Tims' Team - Shelter #2 - Part 2

The tin laying crew got to work quickly and was getting the roof done quickly.

Here is Sony hammering down the last couple of sheets.

The trees grew in just the right position. We were able to build our shelters around the trees. The shade will help to keep the students cooler under a hot tin roof :)

Here is the finished public space at the corner. We eventually want to add cement benches and flowers, plants.

A balancing act coming down from the roof. We left a gap in between the 2 shelters to give the royal palm tree that is growing lots of space.

Chrismanie and her 4 children took refuge here at Coram Deo when the area where they are living, Bois Neuf in Cite Soleil, became dangerous. Here Paulna is helping do one of the children's hair.

Putting up the side walls of the shelter didn't take long.

The cement workers put the fine parge around the park corner area.

Here are a couple of the students who will be using this shelter. This shelter will be used for one of the kindergarten classes.

Now we have a useful part of the yard instead of a muddy, dirt area :)

The guys put on an extension over the shower area to help strong sunlight getting into one of the classes. The class was using a sheet until this work could be done.

Bill got right to work laying down the frame.

Here Reginald is sifting sand which will be used for the fine mortar parge. It sort of looks like he is panning for gold :)

Bill made sure that the frame was perfectly positioned.

Tim was the supervisor!

Some of the children watched while the work was going on.

The bamboo patch was encircled with blocks too.

Mackary and Claudin got to work painting the school shelter boards.

Tim laid down the last of the tin.

This is Chrismanie and her 4 children. The youngest is hiding behind the older children. Chrismanie is 5 months pregnant with her 5th child. We gave the children some of the gifts that were prepared by Levi's sisters. They are now back in Cite Soleil but are trying to find another, safer area to live.

Here Levi is hanging out with a couple of the children.

Next on the list was a kitchen table for the outside kitchen.

It was fun to watch the children enjoy the new park area at the back corner.

Once the table was made one of the guys got to work staining it.

Levi got to work leveling out the area in front of the new school shelter.

This area won't be cemented in order to give more space for the bamboo grove.

Every morning the children line up for the national anthem and opening devotions. The children align themselves into straight lines by touching the shoulder of the child in front of them :)

It is good to teach the children to love their country and their flag.

This year we have 95 students in our program here at Coram Deo.

After the folding of the flag the children go to their classes.
