Orchid Extravaganza! - Part 2

There were some nice orchid/flowers in this arrangement.

It was amazing to see all the different varieties and bright colors of the orchids.

Lots of different types of pots too :)

This one looks like a lily.

I took a close-up to show the detail in the petals.

How Haiti must have looked before deforestation took place.

This is the mermaid picture.

There were nice colors of violets and pinks.

This is a nice gazebo.

It was an enjoyable place to be!

This is a nice rusty color orchid.

There are some neat patterns in these petals too.

A nice pink/violet color.

In the background you can see a mini tropical forest in the surroundings.

These orchids were planted along the painted driftwood.

We walked along the pathway towards the hotel.

And saw this bright pink flower growing in the middle of this plant.

Another shade of pink

All this in the middle of the city!

This violet color is beautiful!

If my family makes a visit to Haiti I am going to bring them to the Karibe Hotel to see the garden there.

Our visit is over and near the hotel construction was going on. A heavy cement panel was being lowered into a foundation of something.... another part of the hotel being built?

We parked along the sideroad. Kimosabee was safe.

And looking towards the hillside you can see many houses stacked up the side of the mountainside.

Looking a little closer you can see the bare ground. Pray for the rainy season here in Haiti. 6 people lost their lives in a landslide last week. People say the El Nino effect will bring more rain to Haiti this year. There was also major flooding in 2004 and 2008. Following a 4 year cycle maybe 2012 will be a flooding year. I hope not.
